Dolls are Veronica Rowlands’s muse for her artworks and fashion illustrations. Her work focuses on the evoking nostalgia in adults. These new delightful illustrations are the result of three month’s research for her MA project.
Investigations and research into the connotations and cultural significance of the triangle led Rowlands to explore gender and hierarchy and then comparisons of women’s portrayal in various eras focusing on androgyny and the 1920s. Post corset curves, boyish figures and androgynous styling was very much the rage, and women’s styling and actions were close to that of many men from the era.
